How Municipal Court Warrants Work
Floydada and Lockney municipal courts handle city ordinance and Class C state-law matters, including traffic cases. Each court keeps its own process for missed appearances and unsatisfied judgments. A municipal warrant is separate from a JP citation, a County Court matter, or a felony record at the 110th District Court. The first task is to identify the court printed on the paper.
A sheriff’s contact or county records search may not show the city court’s full file. The sheriff is a law-enforcement contact; the municipal court controls its case, any reset, and a capias pro fine. Do not treat a blank search result as proof that a city warrant is clear.
Floyd County Municipal Warrant Contacts
The Texas Judiciary directory lists two municipal courts in Floyd County. Floydada Municipal Court is in City Hall at 114 W Virginia and uses a court number separate from the JP office at the same address. Lockney Municipal Court has its own official listing and shares a public number with City Hall. Call to confirm counter hours and payment methods; the research did not locate either court’s warrant portal or a warrant-specific form.
Floydada’s official city site provides the police department’s public contact information.
The city page is a department contact, separate from a municipal court case desk or warrant search.
Municipal Courts Across Floyd County
Only Floydada and Lockney were identified as incorporated municipalities with official municipal-court entries. County or precinct matters outside those city cases follow a JP court instead. This two-city list reflects the official directory reviewed, not a promise that every local citation type is handled at the same counter.
| City | Court | What It Handles |
|---|---|---|
| Floydada | Floydada Municipal Court | City ordinance and Class C state-law or traffic matters |
| Lockney | Lockney Municipal Court | City ordinance and Class C state-law or traffic matters |
Floyd County Municipal Warrant Checks
Neither city court lists an online warrant or citation lookup in the research. Use the court phone first and give the name, date of birth, city, and citation or case number. Floydada’s police page is a City Hall contact page, not a warrant desk. Lockney’s city page routes uniformed police dispatch to the sheriff, while the municipal court remains the contact for the city case.
- Read the citation or notice and call the named municipal court.
- Give the legal name and case, citation, or cause number for matching.
- If the matter involves police service, ask the court whether to contact the city or sheriff.
- If phone help is not enough, ask the court about a records request or a visit before traveling.
Floyd County City Warrant Channels
Floydada’s official police page lists City Hall contact details and a department mission, but no warrant list, clerk, direct warrant line, or payment method. Lockney’s official contact page tells residents to call the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office for uniformed dispatch. That dispatch route does not make the sheriff the clerk for a Lockney court case.
When the court says it has no record, verify the city and citation number before switching to the JP path. A Floydada city ticket is not the same as a Precinct 1 or 4 citation. Likewise, a Lockney Municipal Court record is separate from JP 2 & 3. The official court directory can help confirm which office the paper names.
The OCA publishes court-activity reporting instructions, including categories for justice and municipal courts.
Lockney’s official contact page gives City Hall information and the dispatch route.
That city contact helps with routing, while municipal case status remains with Lockney Municipal Court.
The OCA reporting page describes the court framework, not an individual warrant search.
These statewide reporting materials do not publish a Floyd warrant count or a city lookup portal.
Municipal Warrants: What They Show
No sample municipal warrant record from Floydada or Lockney was available. The court may hold a citation, cause number, offense, issuing judge, balance, bond, status, and next setting. Ask the clerk which reference number identifies the warrant and which identifies the underlying case. The District Clerk’s no-hyphen note does not establish a municipal number format.
| Warrant or cause number | Local format not published; confirm with the court. |
|---|---|
| Citation and offense | City ordinance, Class C state-law, or traffic record. |
| Issuing court | Floydada Municipal Court or Lockney Municipal Court. |
| Balance or bond | Ask the court for the current amount and accepted method. |
| Status | Ask whether active, served, recalled, paid, or cleared. |
| Next setting | Confirm whether the case still needs a hearing or appearance. |
Floyd County Capias Warrant Meaning
A capias pro fine is a court process tied to an unpaid fine judgment, not a label for every city warrant. Chapter 45A sets the amount that must appear on the capias and gives options for hardship and alternative satisfaction. The municipal court that entered the judgment controls the record and explains what filing or appearance is available.
Floydada and Lockney did not publish a reset form, payment portal, bond schedule, or walk-in surrender hours. Call the court to ask whether full payment, a plan, a new setting, community service, or a hardship hearing is available for the specific case.
Texas Chapter 45A contains the current justice and municipal court process.
Clearing a Municipal Court Warrant
The issuing city court decides whether payment, an appearance, a reset, a hardship hearing, or a motion is needed. Call before visiting because court-counter hours, ID rules, accepted payment types, and warrant-specific forms were not found. If a lawyer is involved, ask whether counsel can arrange the appearance or request recall before service.
- Confirm the court, citation, warrant status, and total amount.
- Ask if the judge requires an appearance or if payment or a plan is allowed.
- If the fine is a hardship, ask about the Chapter 45A hearing and alternative-satisfaction process.
- Get a receipt or order and confirm the warrant and case status separately.
Warning: A payment or cleared FTA report may not close the court case; ask the issuing municipal court what status changed and what remains.
Floyd County Municipal Warrant Clearance
After a payment or court appearance, ask whether the warrant was recalled and whether the underlying citation still has a setting. For a qualifying FTA/FTP report, the court may also need to notify the state program. OmniBase only reflects violations reported by participating jurisdictions, so it cannot confirm every municipal warrant.
Keep the court receipt, order, or new date. If the record does not update after the court’s stated processing time, call the municipal court first. Lockney City Hall’s posted weekday hours are not a separate schedule for the court counter, so confirm before going in person.
